Technics SFDN122-01EAV LED Target Lamp to suit SL1200MK2 SL1210MK2 SL1200MK3 turntables that elegantly replaces the original Technics SFDN122-01E Target Lamp

We looked in our parts bin recently and realised we only had 4 genuine Technics SFDN122-01E Target Lamps left in stock. We knew they were already not available from Panasonic spares centres and now realised they are almost all dried up on Ebay etc.

As purists we always loved that warm incandescent glow from the original MK2 filament lamp spilling over our vinyl and set about to recreate the original Target Lamp in an elegant LED replacement

Many trials later and we now have an accurate replica of the specifications of the original filament lamp. We chose a long life Broadcom 2700K Very Warm White LED in a PLCC2 SMD package and designed a PCB that sits perfectly in the place of the original lamp.

We get a few people asking why the LED will not extinguish when pushed down. The reason is simple and most technical people can figure this out but for arguments sake here is the reason.
The incandescent lamp you are replacing has a resistor in series with it when turned off. This is to keep the filament warm to avoid a large inrush of current when turned on from cold and to prolong THE life of the lamp. This 1K5 ohm resistor (R401) is soldered to the contacts of the micro switch and needs to be cut out of circuit or the LED will get enough current to turn on.
